Oak
Properties was originally started back in 1997 as Mobile Home
Professionals.
We
saw the need to help those persons who were stuck renting or living at
their parent’s home. And had no hope for getting out of their situation.
Either because of poor credit or lack of a down payment.
There were a few companies helping people buy their first home, a mobile
[or modular] home, but were ripping them off.
We
knew this well…because when we opened our doors, they called us
looking for help. Help to get them out of their current
predicament.
Mobile Home Professionals was going to be different. We were going to be
professional, courteous and respectful of our clients.
To treat others as we would like to be treated.
Mobile Home Pros, as we were called, began to help putting mobile home
sellers and buyers together. And getting buyers the financing needed to
complete the purchase.
We
quickly aligned ourselves with over 20 banks…lending institutions that had
specific loan programs just for manufactured home buyers.
We
were known for pulling out all the stops to get a buyer into their own
home…trying to help them “Achieve the Dream of Home Ownership”. If
Mobile Home Pros couldn’t get the deal done, it wasn’t doable.
Over
the next several years we closed over $12,000,000…that’s 12 million
dollars… in loans on mobile-modular-manufactured homes. All in and around
Schuylkill County…and all from our little office in Pottsville.
Then
a new trend started to emerge…
Traditional home mortgages got a lot easier to obtain. No money down…no
qualifying…no income type loan programs started to flood the market.
What
we considered to be “stupid” loans made by the banks…We didn’t know how
right we were at the time…but look at the current fiasco the banks are in
now.
At
the same time, mobile home financing also got more difficult to get. Many
of the banks stopped offering mobile home financing. Borrowers needed
almost perfect credit to get a loan for a mobile home.
The
result?
People started to buy traditional homes. They were skipping a step in
the old sequence of:
They
were going right from living at home or renting to buying a home.
All
of these factors caused us to refocus our aim from mobiles to traditional
homes…Our expertise was simply transferred into helping home sellers
and home buyers.
We
felt “Mobile Home Professionals” did not accurately identify us anymore.
So our name was changed to Oak Properties in 2006 to reflect our new
direction.

principles.
